This Week’s Featured Album - Rabe by Aynur

Aynur Doğan | Rabe Edlayê (Official Video) 2024

Born in Turkish-Kurdistan, the multi award winning musician Aynur Doğan has released her seventh album.

“Aynur’s music is based on traditional Kurdish folk songs, with many of them being at least 300 years old. Her lyrics are about the life and sufferings of Kurdish people and in particular Kurdish women. Musically she tries to blend Kurdish with Western music, creating her own style and interpreting her traditional repertoire in a modern and fresh way.” [Website]

She has a unique interpretation of traditional Kurdish songs reaching back up to 300 years and a strength of performance that has brought plaudits from cellist Yo-Yo Ma and Spanish producer Javier Limón. In 2021 she was given the Artist Award Recipient at the international festival of World Music WOMEX where she was described as “One of the richest voices of Kurdish Folk Music in our times!”
